Joining a waitlist
When an event is sold out you can join the waitlist and say how many tickets you want. If you'd take fewer rather than miss out, tick that box — it means a single returned ticket can still be yours.
It's a queue, in the order people joined. When tickets come back — someone refunds, or the organizer adds more — they go to the longest waiter they fit.
The waitlist stays open until the show ends, the same as ticket sales, so a ticket that comes back after doors can still be yours.
The ticket is held for you for 15 minutes
It's yours for that quarter of an hour, not a race. While it's held, it's out of sale, so nobody else can buy it while you decide — the event stays sold out to everyone else.
We email you a Buy now link, saying how many tickets and until when. It usually arrives within seconds of the ticket coming back, though it can take up to 15 minutes — and your 15 minutes start when it's sent, not before. If you start paying and the time runs out mid-payment, you keep the ticket long enough to finish.
If you miss it
The ticket goes to the next person in line and you move to the back of the queue. Miss a second one and you come off the list, so somebody who is watching gets a turn.

Sometimes tickets just go on sale instead
When an organizer adds a batch of new tickets, they choose whether those go to the waitlist first or straight on public sale. If they pick public sale we still email you, but that email says so — those aren't held, and it's first come, first served.
Either way you keep your place in the queue.
The organizer can pick you
An organizer can also hold tickets for people they choose from the waitlist, wherever they are in the line. If they pick you, the email says so, and how long you have to buy. It might be a few hours or a couple of days.
It works like any other hold: only you can buy them, at the normal price. If you don't buy in time, you move to the end of the line.
If more than one ticket is held, you can buy fewer: use − and + on the Buy now page. The ones you don't buy go back.
Don't want them?
Tap No thanks on the Buy now page. The tickets go to someone else straight away, and you come off the waitlist for that show. You can join again later if it's still sold out.
