What KOLA charges
KOLA charges a service fee on the ticket price, plus card processing at cost — Stripe's 2.9% and 30¢ in Canada and the US, 1.5% and 20p in the UK, and 1.5% and €0.25 in euro countries. That is exactly what Stripe charges and exactly what we pass on.
Both are added on top of the ticket price. Checkout shows them, with any sales tax, as one Taxes & fees amount before you pay; tap it to see each one. Nothing is hidden in the ticket price, and no fee appears after you have decided to buy.
Why processing is a little more than the card rate
Stripe charges on the whole amount the card pays — the ticket, our fee and any tax — and on the processing fee itself. So on a $20 ticket it comes to about 92¢, not 88¢. It is still exactly Stripe's charge, nothing added.
Tax
Where the organizer charges sales tax, it is on the ticket price only and listed as Sales tax under Taxes & fees. A discount code lowers the ticket price first, and the fee and tax are worked out on what's left.
On a refund
You get back everything you were charged, including our fee. We do not keep it on a refunded ticket.
