Changing, cancelling or deleting an event

Changes that tell people

Changing the start time or the venue of a published event emails every ticket holder and puts it in their notifications. You're asked to confirm first, because it can't be unsent.

If the event moves to a different day or venue, buyers can also ask for a refund for two weeks, or until two days before the new date — even if sales were final. You approve or decline each one.

Everything else — description, line-up, set times, flyer — changes quietly. Use Messages if people need to know.

Changing the event's web address keeps the old one working: it redirects.

Cancelling

Cancel event is in the Danger zone at the bottom of the event page. It takes the event off the site, voids every ticket, and refunds every buyer in full — ticket price, KOLA's service fee and tax — from your Stripe balance. Stripe keeps its processing fee, so that cost stays with you.

Every ticket holder is emailed. If you give a reason, it is included in that email as coming from you, so write it for them.

Keep the page open until it finishes; a big event takes a few minutes. If it's interrupted, Finish cancelling picks up where it stopped.

A cancelled event can be re-published, but refunded buyers don't get their tickets back and nobody is told it's back on.

Deleting

An event with no orders at all can be deleted for good. One with orders is hidden instead, and its order records kept; if any are still paid, they're refunded first, as with cancelling. You type the event's name to confirm.

There's no unpublish

Once an event is published it can't go back to being a draft. Make it private, hide its tiers, or cancel it.
